IHSAA Review Committee

Minutes from the December 16, 2004 meeting in Indianapolis

PRESENT

Chairman Lee Lonzo, Randy Barrett, Dennis Bunda, Michael Powell, Debb Stevens, Roger Weaver.

HEARINGS

A hearing was conducted to consider the appeal of Corie West, a student at New Castle High School. Corie had been declared ineligible on the basis of Rule 19-4. A hearing was requested in order to appeal the ruling and obtain full eligibility. Following the hearing, legal counsel for the student’s family and for the IHSAA submitted findings of fact. Having analyzed all of the available data, the IHSAA Review Committee voted to uphold the Commissioner.

A hearing was conducted to consider the appeal of Evansville Reitz High School. Evansville Reitz had been issued a warning based on a violation of Rule 54-3.1 (ninth grade football players were allowed to play 5 quarters per week). A hearing was requested in order to appeal the ruling. Following the hearing, Evansville Reitz and legal counsel for the IHSAA submitted findings of fact. Having analyzed all of the available data, the IHSAA Review Committee voted to uphold the Commissioner.
